Arequipa: The White City of Peru

Arequipa is Peru’s second-largest city and one of its most beautiful and culturally rich destinations. Located in the south of the country at over 2,300 meters (7,500 feet) above sea level, it’s surrounded by stunning volcanoes—most famously, El Misti.

Nicknamed «The White City», much of Arequipa is built from sillar, a white volcanic stone that gives the city its unique glow and charm.
