A One-Day Machu Picchu Adventure by Car and Train from Cusco

You’ll start with a comfortable car ride through the stunning Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll hop on a scenic train to Aguas Calientes. From there, a short bus ride takes you up to the ancient city of Machu Picchu — all with your personal guide by your side, sharing insights and stories along the way.
Once at the citadel, enjoy a 3-hour guided tour through the most important parts of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu adventure begins bright and early, with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 AM. From there, enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour drive through the Sacred Valley to reach Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board your train at 7:45 AM.
The train ride to Aguas Calientes lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering stunning views of the snow-covered Andes, ancient Inca farming terraces, and beautiful riverside landscapes. Once you arrive, your local guide will meet you at the station and take you to the bus terminal for the final leg of your journey.
After a 30-minute bus ride up the mountain, you’ll reach the entrance to Machu Picchu. With your passport and entry ticket in hand, you’ll begin a 3-hour guided tour of this incredible Inca city.
Your guide will walk you through the most iconic sites, sharing stories and legends that bring the citadel to life. Highlights include the Temple of the Sun, the Main Plaza, ceremonial fountains, and of course, the famous panoramic viewpoint — perfect for snapping those unforgettable bucket-list photos.
Once you’ve explored the key landmarks, you’ll also have some free time to wander and soak in the magic of Machu Picchu on your own.
When the visit ends, you’ll head back down to Aguas Calientes by bus, where you’ll have some time to grab lunch at a local restaurant (optional and not included). Then it’s time to catch your train back to Ollantaytambo, where your private driver will be waiting to take you on the 2-hour ride back to your hotel in Cusco.
